Busy, Busy, Busy!

Nothing like a week off from work, company, and three parties to make you whip things into shape! We have been working like crazy to make a few rooms presentable.  The island is beginning to take shape. Still some work to do, but I wanted to share a view of the beautiful walnut.

The chalk line is where the final cut will be made for the circle.  After the cut, then the entire length has to be sanded and the edges softened. This is going to make a HUGE dusty mess. We are trying to come up with a way to make a tent with all the drop cloths to contain the dust.
This gorgeous board was almost thrown away!  So proud of hubby for cutting an exact match on the surrounding boards to capture it's full beauty.

Meanwhile, in the other room.....  I moved all these boxes from the guest room, unpacked all my glassware, then broke down all the boxes (the night before our NYE party!).  Found some glasses I didn't remember I had.
Got up early and got the table set for our NYE/anniversary party.  All the windows and doors were washed inside and out.
Silver dishes and clear chargers: TJ Maxx this year. Glittery napkins: Target, this year.  Velvet and glitter runner, TJ last year.

Tomorrow, everything from the guest room and hubby's office will be piled into my clean, neat dining room so they can repair the wall where the roof leaked, take down the popcorn ceilings, paint and install the hardwood floors. The drywall dust will be everywhere all over again. Oh well this is the way a remodel goes.  It will all be over very soon.  Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

  1. Beautiful! I love the color combination! Anniversary? When? How many? And really... dust? You haven't seen dust until March in Lubbock! It will soon be behind you and as beautiful add it looks it is so worth it!
