2004 Antique and Garden Show

Are you ready to stroll with me through the 2004 Garden?

The theme for the Gardens in 2004 was Charming Companions. It started the way it starts each year, with a bare convention center floor.

Over 2 1/2 days this is transformed into a full garden.  It never ceases to amaze me.  This year, my husband's garden was a charming English Garden.  He built the entry way and learned how to make a thatched roof from books and videos.   It's so nice to have a spouse that can do anything he sets his mind to.

My Mother-in-law and I plastered and painted the walls.
The furniture is from our house and my Mother-in-law provided the other items.

The fountain in the center was from my Brother-in-law's garden in Alabama.  He was kind enough to loan it and deliver it too!

My sweetie watering before the judging with his parents supervising.
  His first Best in Show!

Hope you enjoyed this garden.  I am still enjoying parts of it.  The minature boxwood now border my flower beds and the lavender is in my herb garden.
If you are near Nashville, drop by the Convention Center Feb 11-13 to see all the beautiful gardens and the amazing, but overpriced, antiques at the 2011 Antique and Garden Show and be sure to say Hi to Mr Creative!

  2. You must have the most beautiful gardens with a husband who is so talented and knowledgeable. His garden is just fantastic. If you have pics of inside the little house, please share. I kept wanting to step inside.

  3. I would love lavender or even an herb garden. This is beautiful, especially for a show. I know he must have been thrilled to win. We have home and garden shows here but they are only home improvement vendors and landscapers. I would love to go to a home and antique show!

  4. Now how did you do this? You posted this after your trip to Atlanta this weekend? Where do you get your energy? I don't know which is better.. the beautiful English garden or my knowledge of what you were up to before posting this last night..... or wait.. did you do it before you left and just published it when you got home?! Please say yes! Whatever... that thatched roof is just amazing as is all the other elements of this presentation.. he certainly deserved the award!

  6. Thanks to everyone for their comments. I just love hearing from you all. Cindy,
I found and posted just one more picture of the inside, but since this was 2004, before blogging was even a twinkle in my eye, I wasn't thinking about what details would look best on a blog and these are the only photos I have. Now I know I have to take 100 pictures to get ten that are worthy of posting. Slowly, but surely, I am learning! :) I will be snapping away on Thurs when we unveil the 2011 garden at the upcoming show.

  11. Always amazed at the garden shows how they build these gardens so quickly and they look like they've been sitting for a lot longer than a few days! You'll have to come peek at Cottage Flora Thursday's & link a garden post! xoxo

  16. Mary Ellen, This show was about 6 years ago. The little house was just torn down since it wasn't really a full house. Sometimes we sell things built for the shows, but not this time. Thanks you for your kind comments
