The Celebration Table

Mom turned 90 in April, but we waited till Memorial Weekend to celebrate so more of the family could attend the celebration.  We had twelve in attendance and four unable to come.  I have many sets of china that will serve 8 or 10, but only a few things I can use to seat more than 10.  I knew I didn't want to buy anymore dishes for this party so I had to find something that would be festive, fit the season and celebration and feed all twelve.
I decided on the Regency dinner plates by Johnson Brothers because they reminded me of the petals of the daisies in the place mats.  The yellow is Home Trends and they were just a quarter a plate at Old Time Pottery several months ago.  The white appetizer plates are from Ross and the napkins are ancient.
The flowers were an easy choice taking the lead from the place mats.

The Fenton cake plate was a birthday gift from my dear friend Suzanne.
It was perfect for the Lemon Cake with Lemon Curd Filling and Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting.  Totally decadent!

Mom saw me with camera and put her hands in the air!  I guess it started a trend.
My dear MIL made the rose basket for Mom to take home.
Since I just needed three more places than my usual table, we used an extra table that was a discard from my office.  It was perfect because it didn't take up as much room as adding the drop leaf table.   We had a wonderful day and Mom was so happy to be surrounded by her family.  Come join the party at Susan's Tablescape Thursday
