End of Summer Green

Our house is surrounded by trees.  During the summer, when I look out my windows, I see green and I wanted to reflect that on my table.
I started with a green and yellow placemat from Home Goods.
I tried to keep all the elements natural with a woven runner, chargers, and napkins and wood candle sticks.
The sunflower plates were found at a vintage store in Atlanta.

The copper planter echos the tones on the table.  We found it at Smith and Hawken in Washington DC many years ago when S&H had actual stores.  I really miss those stores. The birds are from Home Goods.

I think the plants are cool, but have no idea what they are.  I found them in the garden center at Walmart.  The tag said, "medium light houseplant".  They have loved the light in my dining room.
The lights are Pier 1 glimmer lights. They are battery operated.  Most battery operated lights have large battery packs and these were no exception.  I tried putting them under the runner, but they were too big.  I came up with the idea of hiding it under the table. With hubby's help, I was able to put the wire between the leaves of the table.  Then we put velcro and attached the battery pack to the underside of the table.

All of Pier 1's glimmer lights use the same remote.  It makes turning the lights on and off so easy especially when the control is under the table.
We are in the dog days for sure in TN.  We had a week reprieve, but the heat and humidity is back.  Hope you are staying cool where you are.

  1. You created a soft and cool tablescape, besides been very pretty with the lovely sunflower salad plates. I also love the matching color plates in the stack.
The centerpiece plant is perfect and the little lights just add a glitz touch to it.

  3. Lovely, lovely, lovely! All your elements go together so beautifully: I'm crazy about your copper vases and your sunflower plates. Great idea about hiding the battery pack under the table. Thanks! I, too, am not yet ready to commit to fall. CA has been unusually hot this summer and I still need all my fans on!! Just can't face brown and gold leaves just yet! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
