Chick Chick a dee!

The holidays are over, the bright lights are all put away and the skies are gray.  Winter is settling in in TN.  It's a rare day if we see sun in January so this year, I wanted to brighten up inside, but after all the Christmas color, I also wanted to keep it simple.
Although this is not my photo, on any given winter day, we have at least 20 Black-capped Chickadees on our bird feeder or on the Winterberry Bushes in the backyard.  Let's celebrate this cheerful winter visitor.
I started my table with linen Wedgewood placemats that I have had forever, then added a white swirl glass charger from Pier 1.

Flatware is Fashion Lane by Alvin from 1944.  I love the simplicity of the design.

I knew when I saw these Chickadee plates at Home Goods that they would look great with my linens.  I paired them with Miskasa Antique white dinner plates.

Wedgewood water goblets on clearance from Dillards.
Simple centerpiece of pillar candles, on a cake plate, and surrounded by a grapevine wreath.

Sweet Black-capped Chickadees on Dogwood branches.
Candlesticks from Hobby Lobby, clear glass globes with red berries to mimic the berries on the plates. I love the height the candlesticks bring to the table.
Red striped cotton dishtowels from Home Goods bring a little coziness.

  6. Every single detail of your table is perfect! I love watching the birds in our backyard, and I didn't know what those little birds were. I think I have seen a few. We don't have a feeder any more because of the chipmunks, etc.

Google and AT&T are going to drive me to drink!

  11. So pretty, Diane! I did a tablescape with these chickadee dishes last year, and I've seen several other tables with them yet they're all so different. That's really nice--how each of us envisions them differently. I love the gray with it--it's perfect, and I love, love, love the dogwood branches and all the chickadees--so cute! Stop by and visit my Chickadee Home Nest! P.S. - I don't see nearly as many chickadees around here as you do; boy, would I love that!!

  19. Hi, Dianne! I love the optical illusion of whirling snow created by the white swirl charger!!! That's really cool!!! It's like a blustery winter storm!

The chickadee motif is perfect for this time of year when Christmas is nothing but a memory but we're still stifled by the cold air that comes with winter. January...just one of those really crazy months to decorate! You, however, have narrowed it to something really easy to capture that feeling! Winter cardinals...so pretty! And adding those dishtowels...WOW!!! It's like the birds have come home to nest!!! Have a warm and cozy weekend!!!
