Green and Natural

This year's inspiration was the placemats from Hester and Cook.  I wanted everything to be simple, using only natural greenery.

As usualy hubby provided all the greenery.  It had to be replaced several times.
Both geese were purchased on our most recent girl's trip to Atlanta.

Wishing you and your's a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Giving Thanks

I have decided that fall is my favorite season and I am thankful for it.  I love the colors of fall, the temperatures, the everything!

The pheasants were a gift from my MIL years ago and I have loved and used them almost every year. Thank you Eileen.

The place mats are from Hester and Cook.  Every spring they have a warehouse sale and the bargains are amazing and I am soooo thankful for that!

I was too lazy to put all the pumpkins from my Oct table away, so I just moved them to the drop leaf.

Pier 1 crackle glasses bought with a coupon, on sale, and my birthday discount!  Thankful again.
Napkins from Dillards.
Pee Gee Hydrangeas.  They are beautiful in late summer, but in the fall is when the color really turns lovely. Thankful to hubby for planting my tree.

I wish all of you a peaceful and loving Thanksgiving.  We are on our annual girl's antiquing trip to Atlanta. Thankful for a group of friends that all love the same thing!  This year we didn't even make it out of Tennessee before we spent over $100 at the Lodge cast iron outlet store!  I am linking up with Susan's Tablescape Thursday

Hello Pumpkin!

Even though it is still 90 degrees outside, I decided to go with the calendar instead of the weather and do Fall!  A quick trip to the Farmer's Market yielded just what I needed.
The basket is from an estate sale.

I love the subtle colors of the pumpkins.

The Hester and Cook placemats were a birthday gift from a dear friend last year.  I wanted them to show so I used clear glass dishes. The flatware is Better Homes and Gardens from Walmart.  The pumpkins are hand-me-downs from my MIL.
Estate sale candlesticks and squirrels from Ross.  Oak leaves from our back yard.

Napkin rings from Pier 1.  Love their buy one get one 50% off sale on napkins, placemats and napkin rings.

I need to find some acorns for the squirrels.

Sure hope it cools off soon.  I have had enough summer for this year and I am ready to move on!

End of Summer Green

Our house is surrounded by trees.  During the summer, when I look out my windows, I see green and I wanted to reflect that on my table.
I started with a green and yellow placemat from Home Goods.
I tried to keep all the elements natural with a woven runner, chargers, and napkins and wood candle sticks.
The sunflower plates were found at a vintage store in Atlanta.

The copper planter echos the tones on the table.  We found it at Smith and Hawken in Washington DC many years ago when S&H had actual stores.  I really miss those stores. The birds are from Home Goods.

I think the plants are cool, but have no idea what they are.  I found them in the garden center at Walmart.  The tag said, "medium light houseplant".  They have loved the light in my dining room.
The lights are Pier 1 glimmer lights. They are battery operated.  Most battery operated lights have large battery packs and these were no exception.  I tried putting them under the runner, but they were too big.  I came up with the idea of hiding it under the table. With hubby's help, I was able to put the wire between the leaves of the table.  Then we put velcro and attached the battery pack to the underside of the table.

All of Pier 1's glimmer lights use the same remote.  It makes turning the lights on and off so easy especially when the control is under the table.
We are in the dog days for sure in TN.  We had a week reprieve, but the heat and humidity is back.  Hope you are staying cool where you are.
