A Host of Golden Daffodils

I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

Cute Cynthia Rowley woven placemats from Home Goods
White Chargers from Ikea
222 Fifth Colorwheel yellow plates from Ross
Topped with a Mikasa Antique White salad plate

 For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

  9. Dianne, this is absolutely lovely, especially with the blue hour showing in the windows. You know I like your long table and the way you use it to set gorgeous tablescapes. The Wordsworth poem is one of my favorites, and ironically I have a post sitting in draft using this very poem. Like minds! '-)
    Tell you husband that the row of daffodils is lovely!

  14. I think you probably already know what I'm going to say before I even say it....LOVE the extended centerpiece!!! It really is what helps to make long table stand out. And I l-o-v-e those placemats, too. The softness of the color with the nubby texture is cool. You picked the perfect flowers to go with the placemats, and it all just comes together so nicely. This is one of those tables that, although quite beautiful, isn't the least bit intimidating. Bravissimo!
