Hot Summer Fun

A few weeks ago some friends gathered in our dining room for dinner.  I wanted the table to reflect the hot summer days we have in TN.
I started with this bright colorful runner I found on clearance at Home Goods last year.
I added wooden candlesticks and some grapevine from our back yard.

Some colorful chickens for no special reason except that the colors worked well.
I topped the candlesticks with some mosaic globes that have a lovely glow.
Placemats from Old Time Pottery, chargers from Linens & More, yellow ColorWheel dishes and Cambridge flatware from Ross.

Hand stamped & colored name cards. Hens for the women and Roosters for the men.

Glasses from OTP.  I think the pattern looks like fireworks.

Incredible salad with figs, walnuts, parmesan made by one of our guests.
Nothing better than good food with great friends.

  2. Dianne, your summer is very festive. The bright colors are perfect for a little summer fun. Make me think of brightly colored beach towels. Love the hand stamped and colored place cards. I'm going to remember that idea. Cute!

  5. I absolutely LOVE the way you used the grapevine here!!! It is just the right amount of texture and color, and it artfully corrals the other centerpiece elements. Fab!!! I also like it that you chose to use the roosters for no other particular reason than the fact that the coloring was on target. I love that! It's something a little unexpected that just fits right in. REALLY great how you extended that motif onto the place cards!

Looks like a fun time was had by all!

  6. Love this! The chicken/rooster pieces look so cute there (and now I am reminded of one that I own and should use). I adore your dining table and the room it's in. It's wonderful to see your guests all sitting there- dooesn't get any better than that! I especially like the coloring in this table- very summery!

  8. This table is really fun! It's the tablescape equivalent of a summer garden, when color turns to rich brights and primaries and things are festive and fun. What a great visual cue to your guests that they can expect a lovely summer meal... :-)

  10. I love the centerpieces! I love the idea of using something because the colors all blend! I think that's what tablescaping means. Use what you have to set a beautiful table! You did exactly that! Love all the color, mixed with solids, prints and stripes! Perfect table! Thanks for sharing your inspiration!
