My Christmas Surprise

In early December, I found a beautiful set of Fine Bavarian China with eight place settings and serving pieces, 30% off the consignment store price.

Because of my dish addiction, I resisted and ran home to brag to my hubby about how strong I was to avoid buying another set of dishes.  With the holidays upon me, I forgot about them.

On Christmas I was totally surprised when I opened a box from my MIL with one place setting of this beautiful china.  I was completely confused with the once place setting and because I didn't tell her about the dishes.  Yep, you guessed it,  my hubby told his Mom and she went that day and bought my china.
This china is special to me because it was made in Czechoslovakia and both my Grandmother and Grandfather immigrated to the US from Czechoslovakia when they were young adults and because it was given to me by my dear MIL. 
The pattern is Wild Flower.  I was able to add two more place settings from Ebay; gotta love the Ebay!


I found the fat blue birds at TJ in Atlanta and snapped them up!

    I still want a room just like yours! What a double treasure, your much resisted china and that your MIL gifted you with such a fabulous gift. Love the pattern of the dishes. so very pretty. Your blue birds of happiness sit very pretty on your table. Love the whole look. Elegant and inviting.

    I LOVE it, Dianne!!! What a great husband you have...and mother-in-law, too! That was such a sweet conspiracy on their part! Now every time you set a table with those lovely pieces, you will be able to think about so many special people in your life that they represent. That makes me want to cry. Really touches my heart.     What a wonderful surprise!!! The dishes are lovely. I have some from Poland that have similar embossed rims and flowers. Yours are very beautiful. Everything on the table goes so well together.

    Hi Dianne, I'm glad that you came by my post and I have to agree with you that the little blue glass fruits are lovely. Don't you think they would look really good on this table of yours? Which, by the way is stunning. I absolutely love the silver and glass candleholders.

    I am planning to create a tablescape with mirror in the middle like yours. I have wanted to do it for ages but as yet I haven't managed to find any decent mirror. I want a long piece like a table runner.

    Anyway I hope that you had a wondeful time in the thrift shops today.
